Five arrested in dawn raids targeting suspected county lines drug operation

DAWN raids took place in Rugby this morning (Tuesday November 19) targeting a suspected county lines operation believed to be bringing drugs into the town from London.

Five people were arrested following raids at homes in Trussell Way, Graham Road and Grosvenor Road.

The raids were carried out following concerns about drug dealing in Millenium Green Play Park – and subsequent investigations led officers to believe drugs were being brought from London to Rugby.

Officers from Rugby’s Proactive CID, Safer Neighbourhood Team and the Tactical Support team seized mobile phones, drugs, drugs paraphernalia, cash, a firearm and two dogs.

Three men, aged 24, 20, and 18, and an 18-year-old woman – all from Rugby – were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in supplying a controlled drug.

A 30-year-old man from Rugby was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class B drug.

All five remain in police custody at this time.

Three further raids were carried out by the Metropolitan Police at properties in London.

Det Sgt Alan Gardner said: “We strive to do all we can to stop drug dealers who are attempting to set up in the county.

“We will continue to tackle reports of drug use through robust enforcement that targets drug supply, drug-related crime and any associated anti-social behaviour.”

Report suspicions about drugs-related activity by calling police on 101.
