Florist's blooming success as Rugby shops paint town red

PAINTING the town red – Rugby businesses embraced the spirit of Valentine’s Day by creating some colourful window displays as part of a town centre competition.

Jean’s Flowers in Regent Street beat off tough competition from over 20 businesses to take the trophy in the Rugby First Valentine’s Day Window Dressing Competition.

Melissa and Clare from the independent florist, which has been in Rugby for over 30 years, said: “We are so pleased to have won this year’s competition and have received so many lovely and positive comments about it.

“A special thanks to Rugby First for organising the competition. I would also like to congratulate all the other businesses who have taken part and produced such brilliant displays.”

Hinckley and Rugby Building Society and Cancer Research were both highly commended for their windows.

Other businesses that took part included Florence Bridal and Prom, Terracotta Boutique, Bespoke Hairdressing, Izzy Loops, Sass, Life Charity Shop, Abraxas Cookshop, PB Flaming Grill, Stella Interiors, Make My Events, Hatty Bakewell’s, Max Spielmann, House of Elliott and Grey’s Opticians.

Rugby First Business Manager Linda Lowne said: “I thought this year’s window displays were fantastic and it was great to see so many entries to the competition.

“A big thank you to all those businesses that took part. The colourful displays are always well received by town centre shoppers and visitors.”
