DRAGONS beware – St George will ride into town to celebrate the English Patron Saint’s Day.

A day of celebrations in the town centre will mark St George’s Day on Saturday.

St George will be on his trusty steed to kick off the family event, where visitors can get up close to birds of prey, try their hand at archery or visit the armoury experience – where younger guests can hold swords (all under strict supervision), shields and axes, wear a helmet and try on some chain mail.

Other attractions include face painting, fairground rides, a bouncy castle, Punch and Judy, street entertainers, food and drink and a fancy dress competition with prizes.

Aftab Gaffar, Managing Director of Rugby First said: “Local businesses this year have also done themselves proud and dressed their shop fronts as part of the annual window dressing competition providing a wonderful backdrop for the whole event – as well as some friendly rivalry to see who will pick up the coveted trophy from the Mayor of Rugby.”

The event takes place on High Street and Sheep Street from 11am-3pm. Visit www.rugbytowncentre.co.uk or call 01788 569 436 for more information.
