A SWEET gesture towards NHS staff at St Cross Hospital has been made by a local football club.

Staff and players at Rugby Borough FC decided to show their appreciation for the hard-working staff at St Cross by sending them 500 Easter eggs.

Club secretary Steve Turner said: “The seniors, girls and women, and the boys clubs all thought it would be a great idea to donate these Easter eggs to the overworked doctors and nurses.

“While the hospital is not dealing with coronavirus victims yet, it is taking on treatments and work from other hospitals to ease their workload.

“They work extremely hard and have really stepped up to deliver a first-class service.

“Some of the players’ parents are NHS workers and we are all proud of them and what they do.

“Some of our younger players commented on how nurses are helping people become better and how on every Thursday evening they have been supporting the NHS by clapping at 8pm.

“So just to help a little the Easter eggs will be distributed across the site at St Cross to show that they are all appreciated for what they do.”

Managers and coaches at the club have also signed up to deliver food shopping to vulnerable people through Rugby Borough Council and Warwickshire County Council.
