MOTORCYCLING former Mayor Tony Gillias has been elected chairman of speedway’s national governing body.
Coun Gillias will now chair the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB). He rode for Coventry Bees from 1974 to 1977.
“I feel certain his considerable knowledge in local government and his years of riding on the track will certainly be put to good use during his term,” said speedway fan MP Mark Pawsey who recently set up the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Speedway in Parliament.
