Four arrested as police crack down on festive drink-driving

FOUR suspected drink-drivers were arrested in Warwickshire last weekend, including two in Rugby.

A 26-year-old man from Rugby was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after he was found sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in Cawston at 1.25am on Saturday (December 14).

He was taken into custody and, following questioning, was also arrested for driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and for driving without third party insurance.

Police received a report of a moped on the road and a man lying on the Houlton-sponsored roundabout on the A426 at 5.45am on Sunday (December 15).




Officers arrived to find a 28-year-old man from Northampton on the island. He was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and taken into custody.

Police also arrested an Alcester man who allegedly drove away from a licensed premises and crashed into parked cars on the Saturday evening, and a West Bromwich man who was allegedly driving erratically on the M6 northbound at 7am on the Sunday.


Officers thanked members of the public who reported the incidents, and asked anyone who witnesses drink or drug-driving to call police on 101, Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
