Free heating services on offer to struggling Rugbeians

STRUGGLING Rugby residents who cannot afford to service their boilers and radiators are being offered a lifeline by a local heating and plumbing business.

Rugby-based Custom Heat is offering free heating and hot water services to Rugbeians as part of its inaugural Winter Warmth Campaign to help keep people safe and warm as winter bites.

The company is inviting residents to nominate individuals or families in Rugby whose financial struggles make it difficult for them to service their boilers or radiators and keep their homes warm and safe.

Custom Heat’s engineers will then prioritise those nominated with free heating and hot water services.

Staff at the company, which has been running since the 1980s, said they felt they had to step in to help after reports by its engineers of many households unable to heat their homes, keep their appliances serviced and safe or even able to heat water.

Custom Heat’s Managing Director Lincoln Smith said: “We were shocked to hear this news and think it is a real problem, not just in the Rugby area but across the country.

“Safety and basic regular maintenance of things such as boiler services play a huge role in keeping people warm, and some we have heard of haven’t been able to do this for years. So we knew we had to step in and help in the best way we could.”

The Winter Warmth Campaign will run from Friday (February 1) until Sunday March 31.

Mr Smith added: “There are no strings attached to this offer, but we do urge people only to nominate those in need.

“We will be dedicating one of our engineers to this campaign throughout the month, so they will only have a certain number of calendar appointments available. So we do ask that people are respectful of this.”

The campaign is open to Rugby residents in the CV21, CV22 and CV23 postcodes. Visit or call 01788 568752 to apply.
