FUND-RAISERS are being urged to step up for Myton Hospices in the year of its 40th anniversary.
The charity is hoping to raise £10,000 in sponsorship from this year’s Walk for Myton event, which takes place in May.
Walk for Myton is a sponsored walk which starts and ends at Warwick Myton Hospice.
Participants can choose between three different routes – a casual three-mile stroll, a more challenging six mile walk, or a 12 mile hike for those looking to push themselves.
Following the walk, participants are invited to relax in the grounds of Warwick Myton Hospice where a range of entertainment and a barbecue will take place.
A Myton Hospices spokesperson said: “It’s a perfect opportunity to enjoy the Warwickshire countryside with family, friends and your four-legged companions, while raising vital funds for a great local cause.
“Many people take part in Walk for Myton in memory of someone special who is sadly no longer alive. It’s a chance to remember loved ones whilst helping to raise vital funds for Myton to continue its important work across Coventry and Warwickshire.”
The Myton Hospices, the the only hospice which provides inpatient beds in Coventry and Warwickshire, needs to raise £7.8million a year to continue to care for people with terminal illnesses at its sites in Rugby, Warwick and Coventry.
The Walk for Myton fund-raising target of £10,000 could fund an inpatient bed for three weeks.
Those walking in memory of a loved one can order a Myton In Memory t-shirt which can be personalised with a photo and message on the back. T-shirts must be ordered by Thursday April 14.
Participants who raise £50 or more will receive a limited edition Myton Terracotta Plant Pot and Forget Me Not Seeds.
Walk for Myton takes place on Sunday May 8. Participants can set off anytime between 8.30am and 10am. Entry costs £5 for adults and £3 for children. Everyone who takes part will receive a limited edition Myton 40th Anniversary candle.
