Fusiliers celebrate 50th anniversary with new logo

Maisie Jeynes 16th May, 2017

THE ROYAL Regiment of Fusiliers have unveiled a new 50th anniversary logo.

The logo is a modern take on the regiment’s traditional badge and red and white feather – known as a hackle – and has been designed to mark the formal anniversary of the regiment on April 23 next year.

The landmark year will be known as the Fusilier 50.

The infantry regiment was formed by the amalgamation of four English fusilier regiments in 1968. Since its formation the regiment has been involved in service across the world, including Northern Ireland, Cyprus, the Balkans, the first and second Gulf Wars and Afghanistan.

A programme of special events to celebrate the occasion will run throughout the year, including parades, memorial services, military dinners and gatherings in the regiment’s four recruiting areas.

Colonel (Retd) James Denny, Regimental Secretary for The Fusiliers, said: “We hope everyone is as drawn to the new look as much as we are, and we look forward to welcoming cadets, potential recruits, serving Fusiliers and Fusilier veterans to the planned events which begin on St George’s Day 2018.”

The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Museum (Royal Warwickshire), telling the story of over 300 years of history of the county regiment, from its raising in 1674 to the fusiliers, is located in Warwick.
