‘GAME-changing’ ultrafast internet speeds are coming to thousands of homes in Lutterworth.
A £16million engineering project by broadband provider Gigaclear is underway to connect more than 3,500 homes in the town to full fibre broadband.
Residents in Lutterworth will begin having access to Gigaclear’s broadband this autumn, with the work due for completion by next spring.
Full fibre networks use fibre optic cables to carry data at light speed from the home to the point of connection – giving users speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps for upload and download, near limitless bandwidth, and reliable connectivity.
Gigaclear Delivery Director Tony Smith said: “Reliable and fast broadband speeds are no longer luxuries but are necessary in order for many people to live their lives fully, whether it’s working from home, streaming or accessing other online entertainment. It is going to be a game-changer for residents in Lutterworth.”
During the engineering work, Gigaclear says it will be using existing Openreach ducts and poles wherever possible in order to minimise disruption.
