Glowing hospice fund-raiser returns 'bigger and better' then ever

SUPPORTERS of The Myton Hospices will be positively glowing during its up-coming flagship fund-raiser.

After a Covid-enforced break, Glow for Myton is back – and organisers promise it will be bigger and better than ever before.

To mark the hospices’ 40th anniversary, the charity – which provides free care for people living with terminal illnesses from its hospices in Rugby, Warwick and Coventry – is going all-out to offer its supporters a night of fun and fund-raising.

Hundreds of fund-raisers covered in neon paint will step up for the cause and walk, jog or dance their way around a 5k course in Coventry city centre on Saturday April 2.

Events manager Nancy Lillington said: “We promised bigger and better – and that is exactly what participants will get every step of the way – with three awesome Glow Zones, including the return of the bubble and foam tunnels, a Zumba warm-up and the ever-amazing paint throw just ahead of the event start.

“A top DJ will also be on-hand to add some musical marvel to proceedings, and the entire event will have a retro 80s theme in recognition of the decade Myton first opened its doors.”

Myton wants to raise £40,000 in sponsorship to mark the milestone anniversary – money which will fund its free services for people like Louise Young and her family.

Louise was 47 when she died at Coventry Myton Hospice in March, leaving behind her teenage children and husband. Her daughter Jessica will be sharing her mum’s story at the event so supporters can hear first-hand the difference they make.

Tickets cost £15 with an Early Bird Discount available until Tuesday March 1, after which registration costs £20 in advance or £30 on the night.

Everyone who signs up will get a drawstring bag, a Glow for Myton T-shirt, glow sticks, and powder paint for the colour throw.
