Green-minded Rugby residents learn how to make their homes net zero

Rugby Editorial 8th Nov, 2022   0

GREEN-minded Rugby residents have been finding out how to move closer to having a net zero home.

Some 40 people turned out to a talk held at St George’s Church given by Phil Hemsley, a retired Fellow of the IMechE.

Phil has recently made changes to make his own 1930s three–bedroom house in the town more eco-friendly.

And he shared his tips on how other residents could do the same and what he learnt along the way.

From changing to LED light bulbs, being creative with insulation and the pros and cons of heat pumps and solar panels, he presented how he managed to achieve this, over three years, at a cost of approximately £10,000.

The event was organised by Rugby Green Christian.
