AN AVON Valley student vaulted ahead of the competition when he won a gold medal at a regional gymnastics championship.
Year 7 student Harry Lynch was delighted at winning his first gold in the floor and vault category of the West Midlands George Finney Championships 2018.
Harry, who trains twice a week with Rugby Gymnastics Club, has previously won three bronze and three silver medals.
He said: “I was really surprised! At first we couldn’t hear who’d won, and when I found out it was me I was really shocked. I was given a gold medal and trophy to take home.”
Avon Valley head teacher Alison Davies said: “I am delighted to hear about Harry’s success at his latest gymnastics competition. As a school we encourage all students to aim high in all aspects of their lives, Harry has certainly done this and has been rewarded with a gold medal.”
