TWO ENTHUSIASTIC youngsters from Rugby have reached new heights in their efforts to raise funds for the life-saving Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA) national charity.
Oliver Gaskell, six, and seven-year-old Kyle Bisgrove-Wilson have been recognised as fundraising champions for the charity.
They have dedicated their time doing a variety of activities and fund-raisers – including creative lockdown initiatives – to help keep TCAA’s AgustaWestland 169 aircraft flying lifesaving missions.
Oliver has so far raised over £280 by holding a table-top sale, taking part in a walking challenge, and baking and selling cakes.
And Kyle has raised nearly £200 by placing a collection box at his mum’s workplace.
The boys are members of #TheCrew, a club for children linked to the lifesaving charity.
And because of their dedication, Kyle has now achieved his Silver Award and Oliver his Gold Award.
In recognition of their efforts, both boys received a new certificate and club ID badge in silver or gold colours, as well as discounts on donated items in the charity’s retail stores.
TCAA youth development manager Anoushka Brown said: “We are so happy that they enjoy being members of #TheCrew and we are so grateful for their brilliant fundraising – it really is such an honour to present them with their well-deserved silver and gold awards.”
As part of #TheCrew, children can learn about saving lives, helicopters, medicine, fundraising and how a charity works. The club offers advice and teaching on community work, volunteering, working as part of a team and supporting good causes – which form part of many school curriculums.
Anoushka added: “It is completely free to join and, once signed up, members will receive an awesome welcome pack.”
The club has also launched a month-long Mascot Competition until November 18, encouraging children to sign up and get involved for a chance to win a family pass to a theme park of choice, as well as a visit to a TCAA helicopter base.
