AN HISTORIC hotel near Rugby has been crowned best hotel in Warwickshire and the West Midlands as part of the annual ‘Muddy Awards’.

Coombe Abbey Hotel was a finalist in the Best Hotel/Inn with more than 30 bedrooms category of the awards run by Muddy Stilettos.

It beat The Telegraph Hotel in Coventry, Mallory Court Hotel and Spa in Leamington, and The Arden Hotel and Hotel Indigo in Stratford to claim the title.

Rebecca Freeman, Head of Marketing at Coombe Abbey Hotel, said: “We are over-the-moon to have won this award which recognises the dedication and hard work of all our staff at the hotel. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for us.”

Laura Kearns, Editor of Muddy Stilettos Warwickshire and West Midlands, is hosting a Winners’ Drinks at Wootton Park in Wootton Wawen on July 6.

She said: “The ethos of Muddy Stilettos is all about celebrating and supporting the most unique, interesting, brilliant local businesses, and we hope that this award will give Coombe Abbey a real boost.

“The public response this year has been incredible, with over 750,000 people around the country voting across the 28 Muddy Stilettos regional county sites.”

Coombe Abbey Hotel will now go through to the inaugural National Muddy Stilettos Awards 2022.

Editor-in-chief Hero Brown said: “These will be judged by our experienced Muddy Editors through the summer and five successful finalists per category will be shortlisted to go into the National Finals announced in September, with the ‘Best of the Best’ Winners crowned in October.”

Muddy Stilettos’ annual Muddy Awards recognise lifestyle businesses across 28 counties. 75,000 businesses were nominated and 765,000 votes were cast across the country in 27 categories including best art space, bar, beauty salon and boutique stay.
