Hit-and-run driver wanted after crash leaves cyclist with serious injuries

Rugby Editorial 7th Jan, 2020   0

A HIT-and-run driver is being sought by police.

A car collided with a cyclist on the A428 near Church Lawford heading towards Bretford at around 1.25pm on Sunday December 29.

The cyclist, a man in his 60s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he is still receiving treatment.

It is believed the vehicle did not stop, and then passed through Church Lawford and continued towards Bretford.

It may have then travelled on to Wolston, on the Fosse Way towards the A45, to Brandon, or out of Bretford back towards Easenhall.

The vehicle may be a Silver Vauxhall Vectra, with a 2008 or 2009 registration plate. It is likely to have a damaged lower near side bumper.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or recognises the vehicle pictured.

They would also like to hear from any repair garages who have had a Vauxhall Vectra of this description in for repairs or scrap.

Anyone with information is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 180 of December 29, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
