Homebuilder's donation lays foundations for future bricklayers at Rugby College

THE FOUNDATIONS have been laid for future bricklayers at Rugby College, thanks to a donation from a housebuilder.

Mulberry Homes has donated 80,000 bricks – enough to build eight detached homes – to the college to help budding students learn their trade.

The bricks are a combination of firsts and seconds, meaning they will have a longer life span than bricks often used in the college.

Anthony Rouse, Head of Department for Construction Trades at college group WCG, said: “We would like to thank Mulberry Homes for this fantastic donation of bricks to support our students as they look to become the next generation of industry professionals.

“Practical work is an incredibly important part of our bricklaying courses, and these bricks will be a valuable resource for students as they develop and perfect their skills.

“We have a number of talented young bricklayers currently studying at the college, and this donation will undoubtedly help them to achieve their career goals.”
