THE MYTON Hospices is asking Warwickshire residents to help celebrate its 40th anniversary with a fund-raising challenge.
The charity is inviting people to sign up to its Take 40 Campaign and turn £40 into as much money as possible using their imagination, business sense and fundraising talents.
The campaign, which launches in early January, is the first in a year of fundraising ideas and events planned to mark the charity’s 40th birthday.
Myton is appealing for businesses, schools, organisations and community groups to help raise £40,000.
Those signing up will have three months to come up with ways to turn the price of a meal out for two into enough money to fund 40 hours of specialist nursing care for Myton’s patients with a terminal illness.
There will be awards for those who raise the most money, as well as those with the most innovative fundraising ideas.
Yasmin Audhali, Corporate Fundraiser at Myton, said: “We’re really excited about our fabulous new Take 40 campaign to mark what is a very special year for The Myton Hospices on its 40th anniversary.
“What’s really great about Take 40 is that how you raise the money is entirely up to you, which means it’s a great opportunity to have some fun and do some great fundraising at the same time.
“We can’t wait to see what wonderful things our participants come up with and look forward to what should be a really fun challenge.”
The charity needs to raise £7.8million a year to continue to care for people with terminal illnesses at its hospices in Rugby, Warwick and Coventry, through its patient and family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home.
Last year, despite the challenges of Covid, the charity still supported 1,400 people and their families.
Take 40 launches on Monday January 10 and runs for three months until Friday April 8 – culminating in an awards ceremony and barbecue in the gardens of Warwick Myton Hospice to celebrate fund-raisers’ achievements.
There will be three categories – Education, for schools, colleges, nurseries etc; Community, for all community groups and individuals; and a final category for Businesses.
Each category will have its own winner for the most money raised and for most innovative fundraising, and there will be an overall winner for the team making the most money in total.
