Hospices boosted by kind savers at building society

HOSPICES in Warwickshire have been boosted by a windfall from savers at Hinckley & Rugby Building Society.

The Myton Hospices in Rugby, Coventry and Warwick have received a share of £21,000 thanks to savers at the building society who chose to put their money into its Hospice Affinity Account.

Since its launch in 2008, the account has now paid out over £145,000 to Myton, along with Mary Ann Evans Hospice in Coventry and Nuneaton, and LOROS in Leicestershire.

The total donation of £21,750 is equivalent to one per cent of the average balances held in the Affinity Account in the past year.

Chris Willmott, corporate fundraiser at The Myton Hospices, said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity and support of Hinckley & Rugby Building Society and its amazing customers, who support Myton every year with such a significant contribution.

“Here at Myton, we believe everyone matters for every single moment of their lives and fabulous support such as this enables us to do all we can to play a part in that – not just for our patients but for their families and loved ones too.”

Stewart Heeley, Hinckley & Rugby’s marketing & PR manager, said: “Our savers choose this account knowing they could get more interest in other accounts, but knowing too that they are selflessly supporting three priceless institutions that help so many local people.”
