VOLUNTEERS are wanted to help patients and staff at Rugby’s Hospital of St Cross.
Following a record-breaking year of volunteer support delivered by The Friends of St Cross, the charity has been asked to expand one of its services and introduce a new one.
Doug Jones, Chair of the Friends, said “We currently have some 170 volunteers working in 12 teams – and have been asked to expand our Meet and Greet Service and our Befriending Service.
“We need some 20 volunteers to deliver these, and to fill vacancies which inevitably occur from time to time.
“Praise for the work we do comes from all quarters including patients, visitors and the management of University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, who regard us as a key part of Team UHCW.”
Rugby Mayor Maggie O’Rourke recently presented the charity with two Special Appreciation Awards.
She said: “I know what a massive difference the work of the Friends makes at St Cross, supporting patients and staff while raising money to purchase medical equipment, so I was delighted to have the opportunity to present the trustees with a Special Appreciation Award.”
