A FIVE-year-old boy with cerebral palsy moved a step closer to being able to walk on his own, thanks to a huge fund-raising effort.
Over £3,200 has been donated to an appeal towards an operation which will help little Vinay Sharma to walk without the aid of a walking frame.
Over 100 members of the Rugby branch of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh UK raised over £2,200 for the Hope4Vinay appeal at this year’s annual Sewa Walkathon at Draycote Water in June.
This was topped up by another £1,000 from Shree Kalyan Mandal members at Rugby’s Hindu temple.
The money raised will go towards a costly SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) operation for Vinay.
Vinay’s mum Neelam Sharma said she was extremely grateful that the whole community had got behind the appeal.
