HUMAN remains have been found in Kilsby Lane near Rugby.

Police were alerted to the discovery of ‘possible skeletal human remains’ on Saturday (February 17).

The remains, believed to be those of a man, have been removed after police investigated the site, supported by an archaeologist and anthropologist.

Kilsby Lane was closed from Saturday until today (Tuesday February 20) while the investigation took place.

A Warwickshire Police spokesperson said: “The remains are now the subject of further analysis and investigation, which will take some time.

“We are working hard to identify the body and the circumstances of this sad death. We want to be able to inform the family before releasing any further information.

“We appreciate the impact on local residents of Kilsby Lane, and would like to thank them for their patience. We will update further as the investigation progresses and when it is appropriate.”

Anyone who has any information which may help with the police investigation is asked to report it online at www.warwickshire.police.uk/report, by phone on 101, or anonymously through CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111 – citing incident 185 of February 17.
