Hundreds gearing up for scenic charity bike ride

HUNDREDS of cyclists are gearing up for an annual challenge which has raised £33,000 for charity over the last ten years.

The 11th Lutterworth Big Bike Ride will start and finish at Misterton Hall on Sunday August 20, with a choice of four routes ranging from 11 to 67 miles.

The charity ride, organised by Lutterworth Rotary Club, will raise funds for Epilepsy Action, Prostaid and the MS Society.

A spokesman for Lutterworth Rotary Club said previous events had attracted over 600 riders.

He added: “The routes are selected to follow quieter country lanes in the beautiful surroundings of rural Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

“The long route takes riders on a journey through the Langtons beyond Market Harborough to Eyebrook Reservoir.

“The 39 and 67 mile routes also have the distinction of running directly through the Naseby battlefield site and many sections follow the National Cycle Network.”

Individuals, families and teams representing local businesses and clubs are all welcome.

Entry fees range from £1 for children up to ten years old riding all distances, to £17 for adults riding the 67 mile route. Entry fee includes a hog roast or vegetarian alternative when riders complete the circuit and arrive back at Misterton Hall.
