OVER five hundred cyclists saddled up to raise money for charity at the annual Lutterworth Rotary Big Bike Ride.
They set forth from Misterton Hall to cycle one of four routes offered – raging from 11 to 62 miles – returning to Misterton at midday to a well earned Hog Roast provided by Neil Green Catering, the event’s main sponsor.
Over 100 new entrants joined what has become an increasingly popular annual event. Each year, more riders tackle the longer routes – and this year more than half of the cyclists tackled the 62 mile route.
Lutterworth Rotary’s Peter Osborn said: “How lucky can we be by having such good weather for this Rotary event for the sixth year running?
“Thanks to Heather Craven we were able to use her well manicured lawn to relax and look out on the lake which gave us a wonderful view across the beautiful Misterton Hall grounds.
“We hope that in twelve months time we are again blessed with such good weather. It certainly beats cycling in the rain.”
Organisers hope the event will have raised over £4,000 which will support the work of Epilepsy Action, Rotary Disabled Sports and other Rotary supported charities.
