A HUSBAND-and-wife painter and sculptor duo will open an exhibition of their work at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum next weekend.
Rugby-born painter Tony Prior and his sculptor wife Julia met at art college in Bristol.
They started The Cutting Gallery and Studios at Stockton 20 years ago, a popular venue during the annual Warwickshire Open Studios event.
Tony makes expressive paintings inspired by sea, sky, landscape and space and has recently been illustrating his own writing.
He was diagnosed with MS 17 years ago and his art often expresses how this affects him.
Julia is inspired by animals and often uses found and reclaimed wood to make sculptures.
Her piece Prowler won the people’s choice award at the Rugby Open Exhibition in 2010. She has recently been using reclaimed steel to make her animal sculptures.
The exhibition opens at the Little Elborow Street venue’s Floor One Gallery on Saturday April 27, and runs until Thursday May 9.
