HIGH chances of severe cold weather, icy conditions and heavy snow until Tuesday (January 19) has prompted Warwickshire County Council to issue a warning to the county’s most vulnerable.
A forecast cold snap from now until next week has prompted a warning from Met Office officials.
And council chiefs added that vulnerable people’s health could be at risk.
Dr John Linnane, Director of Public Health for Warwickshire County Council said: “Make sure you have sufficient supplies of food for hot meals, plenty of drinks and your regular medications. Stocking up on tinned and frozen food is a good idea.
“Please check in on neighbours who are elderly, vulnerable, or less mobile, and make sure that their house is adequately heated, that they have enough supplies and that they have an emergency contact telephone number.
“Make sure you seek medical help if you are concerned about someone. You can ring NHS 111, speak to a GP or pharmacist, attend a walk-in-centre, or if more serious it may be necessary to attend A&E or alert the emergency services.”
Coun Maggie O’Rourke, responsible for adults, health and social care said: “If there is anyone you know who might be at particular risk, for example, an older person living on their own, make sure they know what to do to stay warm and are well stocked with food and medications.”
