IDENTICAL twin artists will hold their first exhibition in more than 10 years at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum this month.
The Jackson Twins’ latest art works will go on display at Diplotreia: The Pantheon of Duality.
They say the works are a series of portraits that focus on the intricate world of human identity by combining Carl Jung’s theory of archetypes with visuals inspired by Greek mythology, exploring themes of identity, individuality and their place in contemporary society.
As identical twins, and proud members of the LGBTQIA+ community, the twins have a fascination with examining who they are and where they belong. Through their photographic self portraits and the use of costume, prosthetics, drag and role play, they invite the viewer to do the same.
Karl Jackson said: “Through transforming ourselves into characters such as The Lover, The Hero and The Sage, we aim to make the viewer reflect upon the multi-faceted nature of their identities, and think about the roles they adopt as they navigate daily life.”
Working together for more than 20 years, The Jackson Twins’ work has been shown nationally and internationally, with exhibitions in London, Sydney, Los Angeles and San Francisco. They have featured in The British Journal of Photography, PhotoWorld in China, and ZoneZero in Mexico, as well as various online publications.
Diplotreia: The Pantheon of Duality will be on show at the Little Elborow Street venue’s Floor One Gallery from July 19-29.
The Jackson Twins will also host a ‘Meet the Artists’ event at the gallery on Saturday July 22 from 1-4pm.
