THE AMICI Choir from Coventry Cathedral will return to St George’s Church in Hillmorton for an evening of advent music and readings ‪on Friday (December 6) at 7.30pm‬.

The evening will include familiar Christmas music in arrangements by Vaughan Williams and David Willcocks, as well as music by Lauridsen, MacMillan and Bob Chilcott.

A COMMUNITY festive event takes place in Hillmorton next week.

The Friends of East Rugby Group (FERG) is inviting residents to attend a Christmas tree lighting event at English Martyrs Church on Wednesday (December 11) from 4.30-6.30pm.


Local school children are invited to create their own recycled decorations to put on the tree.

The non-denominational event will feature carols from the Hillmorton Community Choir, and mince pies and a winter-warmer drink will be available.

Donations of food, toiletries or spare change will be taken for the Hope4 homelessness charity and the local food bank.

RUGBY RAMBLERS will embark on a six-mile walk around Newton on Saturday (December 7). Meet just before 9am in the car park of The Orchard Centre, Lower Hillmorton Road. Contact Kay or Richard on 07811 543880 for more information.

The following day the group offers a choice of 10-mile or 14-mile routes around Swinford. Meet in Barby Road opposite the Temple Speech Room just before 8.30am and bring a packed lunch. Call John on (01788) 332332 (14 miles) or Sandra on (01788) 335148 (10 miles) for more information.

A four-mile walk around Churchover takes place on Wednesday (December 11). Meet inside Sainsbury’s car park near the recycling area just before 10am. Contact Bob and Sue on 07910 812479 for more information.

A FREE workshop will help people learn the difference between LGB and T next week.

The Equality and Inclusion Partnership (EQuIP) is holding the event to celebrate International Human Rights Day on December 10.

Designed for members of the community and frontline workers, the workshop will focus on equality and the trans community.

EQuIP Chief Executive Junaid Hussain said: “This workshop will look at the basics of the Equality Act 2010, how the law protects you from discrimination and with expert speakers will look at Transgender identity in more detail.”

It takes place at the Morgan Conference Suite, Rugby College, Technology Drive, Rugby on Tuesday December 10 from 10am-1pm. Email [email protected] or call 0330 135 6606 to book a place.
