Independent retailers in Harborough district brush up on their social media skills

Rugby Editorial 30th May, 2023   0

INDEPENDENT retailers in the Harborough district are planning to grow their businesses after receiving expert advice to improve their social media and marketing content.

Over a dozen local traders from Lutterworth Town Team and two volunteers from Lutterworth and District Museum benefitted from having free training sessions on the Canva platform delivered by local company, Moss Social.

The training was organised and funded by Harborough District Council using the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

HDC economy spokeswoman Coun Geraldine Whitmore said: “Small businesses are at the heart of our market town community and this is just one of the ways the council is actively supporting local independents. Lutterworth Town Team is a great network and other businesses are encouraged to join the monthly meetings.”

Nicola Moss, social media and marketing consultant at Moss Social, continued: “What an inspiring collection of business owners I met with big plans and amazing ideas, who needed a little marketing support to encourage them along the way.”

Kate Woodroffe from Forget-me-not, who offers children’s crafting and wellbeing crafting workshops, added: “The training was so helpful. Nicola was very knowledgeable and gave me lots of tips to use.”

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.
