Rugby Editorial 31st Oct, 2023   0

NINETIES pop sensation East 17 will serenade Rugby with their renowned festive number one Stay Another Day when they switch on the town’s Christmas lights later this month.

The boy band, famed for their hits It’s Alright, Deep and House of Love, will take to the stage at the free switch-on event in the town centre which takes place from 12-6pm on Sunday November 19.

The event will take place on North Street, Church Street, Market Place, Regent Street, Henry Street, Albert Street, Bank Street and other areas of the town centre, featuring music and dance, stalls, food, a funfair and fireworks.

The band might even ‘stay another day’, as they will go on to perform at the Benn Hall after the switch-on event.

Linda Lowne, Business Manager of event organiser Rugby First, said: “The Christmas Light Switch-On is one of the biggest annual events in Rugby town centre, and we are delighted to welcome East 17.

“Thousands of people come into the town to enjoy the event and provide a much-welcomed boost to the town centre economy, through shopping, eating and drinking – a great way to support the local business community!”

Tom Kittendorf, the chief officer for leisure and wellbeing at Rugby Borough Council, added: “We’re looking forward to welcoming thousands of people to the town centre for the Christmas lights switch-on, and with East 17 performing at the Benn Hall after the event, visitors can make a night of it and start the festivities with a bang.”
