James Bond caravan site housing plan rejected again

Rugby Editorial 16th Apr, 2014 Updated: 27th Oct, 2016   0

A SECOND bid by the owners of the James Bond Caravan Site on Moorbarns Lane in Lutterworth to build houses there has failed.

District planners said proposals for 50 homes did not meet current guidelines, citing a detrimental effect on road safety, heritage, flooding and the character of the surrounding countryside.

They also expressed concern at the loss of the land’s current accommodation for the travelling showman community although there were proposals to consider relocating half of the 14 plots.

Two years ago the district council refused the first attempt to get planning permission for similar reasons.
