Rugby Editorial 20th Jul, 2022   0

A JAPANESE psychedelic folk group will headline the second in a series of ‘Candle-Lit Concerts’ at St Andrew’s Church this weekend.

Formed by London based Japanese artist Yoshino Shigihara, Yama Warashi – which means a small child-like spirit which lives in the mountains – play dreamy and evocative music inspired by Japanese folk dance, free jazz, tribal African music and electric psychedelia.

Support act PVC 3 – an abbreviation of piano, voice, cello – is a local modern classical group featuring Fiona McCreath, Jo Foote and Huw Gibson. The group will perform Andre Previn’s four songs for Soprano, Cello and Piano.

The concert takes place at 8pm on Saturday (July 23). Visit https://tinyurl.com/2myuuppv to book tickets.
