KEITH Ward is the new president of the Rotary Club of Rugby.
Keith is the son of Tom Ward who founded Rugby Theatre and started Rugby Apprentices Rag carnival back in the 1930s.
He said: “I am very honoured to been asked to take on this role, and am keen to maintain our fund-raising activities and hold some of our usual events taking in the “social distancing” we all have to remember.
“Covid has helped us fund our nominated charities ad we have not been paying for
our lunches, so that money has been donated to Warwickshire Air Ambulance and
Rugby Dementia Support, both have recently received £1000 each.
“I am keen to continue this plus one of our members have started a 100 club
similar to lotto one number, £5 per member drawn month with 25 per cent prize money of takings.
“We hope to re start our events towards the end of the year ,but we have to watch
government guidelines over the next few months.”
