Kind colleagues in Rugby raise £1,000 for local children’s cancer charity

KIND colleagues in Rugby have raised £1,000 for a local children’s cancer charity.

The donation to the Shine a Light charity was raised by employees at Amazon’s Rugby fulfilment centre, who took part in the company’s Amazon Goes Gold for Kids with Cancer campaign during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

They held a month-long series of gold-themed events in recognition of the gold ribbon, the international emblem for childhood cancer.

Events included a Pyjama Day, when the team wore pyjamas to work in honour of children who spend every day in their pyjamas during treatment.

They also delivered toys and games to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire.

Employee Mehwish Waheed said: “We loved taking part in our gold-themed events to raise awareness of childhood cancer. I think it’s brilliant that we’re also able to support Shine a Light, whose staff and volunteers do incredible work for families in our area.”

Shine a Light provides support for children and young people with cancer and their families.

The charity is seeking support from local businesses and individuals to help it create a colourful space for anyone affected by cancer at its new premises in Rugby Central Shopping Centre.
