ST CROSS Hospital has landed a windfall thanks to generous members at Coventry Building Society.
The society donated over £24,600 to the Friends of St Cross charity.
It is the 13th such donation, raised throughout 2019 thanks to savers who choose to donate one per cent of their average savings balances to the hospital.
The society has now donated a grand total of over £266,500 to the charity.
The charity’s chairman Willy Goldschmidt said: “We are most grateful for the support we have received from Coventry Building Society over the years. This year’s donation is one of the highest we have ever received.
“We’d like to thank the Society – particularly staff from the Rugby branch – and its members for their tremendous support.”
He said the donation would go towards additional equipment which will improve care for patients at St Cross.
In 2019, the charity spent around £120,000 on new equipment and projects, including an expansion of the hysteroscopy service, new specialist equipment for carpal tunnel surgery, and more comfortable chairs for the Urgent Treatment Centre.
“We could not do this without the tremendous support we receive from the community in and around Rugby,” added Mr Goldschmidt.
Following the cheque presentation, the society’s Matt Mannings visited various wards and departments which the Friends have supported.
He said: “It’s very clear to see just how valuable the support of the Friends is to the hospital. We’re delighted that, with the help of our members, we can support the vital work that the Friends do in the community.”
