Law firm begins new chapter in 160-year history

Rugby Editorial 16th Jul, 2014 Updated: 27th Oct, 2016

LAW firm Brethertons are set to move out of its home of over 160 years.

Staff got together on Friday to say a fond farewell to 16 Church Street as they prepare to head to new £2.3million offices on Clifton Road.

The firm was founded in 1853 by the Wratislaw family and since has written thousands of contracts for the sale of property and land in the town while many thousands of Wills have been created and witnessed.

In recent years they have been involved in arranging contracts for the development of the Cattle Market site, advising on the building of the new Lawrence Sheriff School, the Clock Towers Shopping Centre, and advised on legal issues behind many of others developments.

The move to Clifton Road will see staff at all three offices in Rugby work under one roof for the first time.

Senior partner Richard Pell said everyone was excited about the firm’s future.

“The decision to move has been made for the benefit of staff, professional colleagues and above all else, for the benefit of clients and the local community.

“The new offices will allow us to accommodate more staff, including specialist Commercial and Private Client departments, but still keep us at the heart of the Rugby community and enable us to offer a service accessible to all.”
