A MAN has been charged in connection with a burglary in Bilton.

The incident took place on Wheatfield Road sometime between Sunday June 7 and Tuesday June 9.

A property was broken into and a number of items were stolen – including a purse with bank cards and a small amount of jewellery.

Some of the items were recovered nearby later and returned to their owner.

Extensive inquiries were conducted by Rugby CID following the incident and a media appeal resulted in the arrest of Shane Welsby.

The 27-year-old of Sleaford, Lincolnshire was charged on Saturday (July 18) and has been remanded in custody.

He was set to appear before magistrates in Leamington on Monday (July 20).
