Literature-loving kids get medals for their summer holiday reading

BOOKWORMS from schools in and around Rugby who leafed through literature during the summer holidays have earned awards for their efforts.

Medals and certificates were given to 340 children aged five to 11 who completed the Summer Reading Challenge by getting six books under their belts during the break.

It was a 30 per cent increase on the number of kids who reached the target last year.

Pictured are medal winners (front row, left to right) Bobby Dove, Harriet Jones, Sydney Arthur, Calvin Kyangwe, Joshua Phillips and Ollie Phillips with (back row, left to right) Warwickshire County Councillor Kam Kaur, reading challenge volunteer Prakhar Gupta, and area librarian Joanna Grindle, who was attending her last medal presentation before retiring at the end of this month after 37 years working in Warwickshire’s libraries.
