A FLESH-EATING plant with a talent for soul singing is preparing to take over Rugby Theatre.
The Henry Street theatre presents the hit musical Little Shop of Horrors from June 8 to 15.
The comedy horror, written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, features pop, rock, R&B and Motown tunes and tells the story of flower shop assistant Seymour Krelborn and his shy, kind-hearted co-worker Audrey.
Seymour’s life is turned on its head when he comes across an unusual plant which he discovers will only grow when it’s ‘watered’ with human blood.
Artistic director Robert Sloan said: “I love the absurdity of the plot, but at its heart it’s a love story – and everyone can relate to that.”
“Little Shop of Horrors has such a wonderful range of big, bold, complex characters and we’ve really been able to sink our teeth in to them.”
