Lonely and vulnerable people in Rugby invited to Christmas Dinner

Rugby Editorial 8th Dec, 2021   0

LONELY, vulnerable and disadvantaged people in Rugby will once again be welcomed to a free dinner on Christmas Day.

The Benn Partnership Centre (BPC) will open its doors on the big day, having cancelled last year’s event due to the pandemic.

BPC Chair Sonia Johns said: “Christmas to many people is a joyful time and for giving. But this time of the year can be a very tough time, especially those members of our community who are homeless, lonely or cannot afford to feed their family.”

Chiedza Mupfumira and Ian Southcott from Cemex and Rugby Benovelent Fund presented a cheque of £500 towards the event.

Ian Southcott said: “We are proud to support The Benn Partnership Centre and ensure community members are able to access Christmas meals and experience the excitement that comes with the season.”

Sonia Johns thanked Cemex for the donation, also thanking Adsa, local businesses, community members and volunteers who have supported the event over the years.

The BPC will be able to cater for 100 people on Christmas Day. Booking is on a first-come first-served basis. Call the centre on 01788 553033 or email [email protected] before Friday December 10 to book.
