LOOK: Draycote Water hosts family Sports Days to mark opening of Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

Editorial Correspondent 1st Aug, 2022 Updated: 2nd Aug, 2022

A FREE weekend of sports took place at Draycote Water at the weekend in celebration of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Visitors took part in Sports Day activities such as the egg and spoon race, a space hopper relay, and a tug of war provided by local team-building company Eventurous.

Local sports clubs including Caldecott Park Bowling Club and Draycote Water Sailing Club showcased their activities and invited visitors to give their sport a try.

It was played out against a backdrop of sporting excellence, as a big screen showed live coverage of the Games as athletes from around the Commonwealth went for gold in events including badminton and hockey.

And the fun finished in time for families to get home and watch England’s Lionesses beat Germany 2-1 to win the European Championship on Sunday evening.
