PLAYTIME! It was all fun and games at Whitehall Recreation Ground on National Play Day.

Rugby Borough Council’s sport and recreation team marked the event by hosting a free event at the park.

A climbing wall, mini-golf, zorbing, trampolines, a bungee run, samba football, an inflatable obstacle course and a cork shooting gallery gave kids a chance to let off some summer holiday steam.

Meanwhile, the council’s Play Rangers are hosting free outdoor play sessions at the borough’s parks throughout the school break.

Free play sessions take place every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the six week summer holidays, visiting parks with a range of themed activities, from water fights to a mini-Olympics.

Sessions take place at Caldecott Park and GEC Recreation Ground on Tuesdays, Hollowell Way in Brownsover, and Millennium Green on Wednesdays, and Cawston Grange Park and Long Lawford’s King George V Field on Thursdays.

And the Summer Sport 2023 programme of sport sessions is also taking place during the holidays, to gives youngsters the chance to try a new sport or develop skills under the guidance of qualified coaches.

RBC chief leisure officer Tom Kittendorf said: “The summer sport and play programme gives youngsters the chance to get outdoors and get active during the school break.

“From qualified coaching to free, structured play sessions at the borough’s parks, we have plenty of opportunities to learn new skills and have fun with friends over the summer.”
