LOOK: Furry-faced funsters flock to Rugby for British Beard and Moustache Championship

HIRSUITES you sir! Some of the country’s finest facial hair was on display in Rugby last weekend when the fifth British Beard and Moustache Championship was held in the town.

Hairy hopefuls from around the country came in their droves to Rugby School’s Temple Speech Room on Saturday (August 27) for the ultimate beard-off.

They competed in 23 fun and furry categories, including Handlebar Moustache, Musketeer, Ladies Creative Fake Beard, and British Business Beard.

Bushy Brian Eva was declared the overall winner of the Best in Show category.

The event was run by volunteers from The Whiskered West Midlands and iBeardclub – including Simon Sheffield, who said: “It was great fun holding the event in Rugby.

“Both The Merchant’s Inn for the Pre Party and Temple Speech Room for the main event were fantastic hosts, and we have had some fantastic feedback from those who attended.”

The event has so far raised around £5,000 for chosen charity The Lions Barber Collective – an international collection of barbers who have come together to help raise awareness of suicide prevention – with more donations still to be counted.
