A NEW leisure centre – including a futuristic ‘air dome’ housing tennis courts, and an outdoor swimming pool – could be built in Houlton.
David Lloyd Leisure has applied for planning permission to build a health, fitness and racquets club in the new neighbourhood on the old radio mast site, off Crick Road near St Gabriel’s CofE Academy.
The centre would include indoor and outdoor pools, three weather-protected tennis courts under the dome, and three outdoor courts.
The plans also include a gym, a spa garden, a child activity area and a 250-space car park.
If granted planning permission, the club will provide at least 70 full and part time jobs.
