DELIGHTED children and their doting parents enjoyed an enchanting outdoor summer show in Caldecott Park.

Families snuggled up on picnic blankets to watch a performance of Beatrix Potter’s classic The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny, performed by touring company Quantum Theatre.

The show followed beloved character Peter and his naughty cousin Benjamin on their hair-raising adventures.

It was part of Rugby Summertime, a programme of free family entertainment being organised by Rugby Borough Council.

Forthcoming events include a community family fun day featuring inflatables, a climbing wall, trampolines, multisport, arts and crafts on Wednesday August 2 at Whitehall Recreation Ground.

Caldecott Park opens its outdoor cinema on Tuesday August 8 for a three-day run featuring Disney classics, summer blockbusters and family favourites.

Residents can head for the beach in the heart of the town centre – complete with sand, buckets and spades, and deck chairs – on Monday August 21, Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23.

And the ongoing exhibition KAPOW – The Art of Making Comics and Film runs at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum until September 9.

Visit www.therugbytown.co.uk/summertime for more information, and to book free tickets for outdoor cinema film screenings.
