RUGBY’S history and culture is on display during the annual Heritage Open Days celebration.
While some events and tours have been cancelled following the death of the Queen, many historic settings and other venues across the borough are opening their doors to the public for free exhibitions, tours and more.
Residents are invited to peek inside Rugby Distillery, Marton Museum of Country Bygones, Coombe Abbey Park, and Princethorpe College – as well as some of the borough’s churches, including the Orthodox Church of the Ascension and St Edith’s Church in Monks Kirby.
Artists have been showcasing traditional crafts at Art at the Alex – the former Alexandra Arms pub – and visitors have been treated to tours of Cotesbach Hall and its open gardens and stable yard, where blacksmiths have been demonstrating their ancient craft.
Heritage Open Days runs until September 18. All activities and venues are free, but some require pre-booking. Visit https://tinyurl.com/45d29ttk for more information about the programme, and to book tickets.
