A DRAMA group in Lutterworth is staging a hundred-year-old comedy thriller this weekend.
The Ghost Train is Wycliffe Drama Group’s autumn production.
Written by Arnold Ridley – best known as Godfrey in Dad’s Army – the play centres around a group of six passengers who are stranded at a small Cornish railway station.
Despite the tale told by an old stationmaster of the station being haunted, they decide to spend the night in the waiting room.
They soon regret their decision as ghostly and not-so-ghostly apparitions materialise, before the real reason behind the night’s events are revealed.
A spokesperson for the drama group said: “The play was originally written a hundred years ago but it is still staged regularly on both the professional and amateur stage as it has such a fantastic storyline.
“The script has very recently been revised by Arnold Ridley’s son, which makes it even more enjoyable for the modern audience. This is a show which will have the audience on the edge of their seats, so it is definitely one not to be missed.”
The play will be staged at Lutterworth College on Friday (September 13) and Saturday (September 14), with a matinee and an evening performance on Saturday.
Tickets at £13 for adults or £11 for concessions are available from Max Electrical in Lutterworth, by emailing [email protected] or calling 07458 302158.
