A LUTTERWORTH man has pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of a woman.
Kane Brookes, 24, of Feilding Way, also admitted the unlawful wounding of a man with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on Tuesday June 20.
The charges relate to an incident which happened at a property in Enderby Road, Blaby, on March 15 this year. The victims and Brookes were all known to each other.
Police had been called to the property just after 12.30am by East Midlands Ambulance Service, who reported that two people had been stabbed.
The suspect, Brookes, had fled from the scene.
The woman, who is in her 20s, was bleeding heavily having suffered multiple stab wounds. She was taken to hospital where she underwent surgery for her injuries. She has since been discharged from hospital.
The man, who is 18, had suffered a single stab wound to his chest. He was also taken to hospital for treatment following the incident and has since been discharged.
Information received led officers to locate Brookes nearby shortly after the incident where he was arrested before later being charged by police.
Det Cons Mike Sime of Leicestershire Police said: “This was a horrific incident in which a young woman and man both suffered horrendous injuries.
“Brookes’ early guilty plea means the victims now do not need to give evidence at court, but they still live each day reminded of what Brookes did to them. My thoughts remain with them both at this time as they try to continue forward with their lives.”
Brookes is due to be sentenced at the same court on Friday October 6.
