THE man described as the unsung hero of Lutterworth Rotary Club has been handed this year’s Paul Harris Fellowship Award.
David Haynes – two-time president during his 36 years as a member – was given the prestigious award in the presence of members of twin overseas club from Ribild in Denmark.
“He has been our unsung hero over the years taking on whatever job has been thrust upon him,” said club spokesman Peter Osborn.
“His name regularly comes up when the question is asked: who will know that, ‘ask David’.”
Paul Harris Fellowships are handed to Rotarians in recognition of exceptional service in the name of the organisation’s founder. The first was awarded in 1957 and in 2006 there were one million recipients globally.
