A MAN charged with manslaughter following the death of a Rugby man outside a Leamington nightclub has been bailed until May.
Robert Bavington suffered head injuries in an attack near Moo Bar on Russell Street around 1.20am on Sunday morning.
Police say a row broke out between two groups in front of the nightclub and 28-year-old Mr Bavington was assaulted.
The web designer – who was managing director of Coventry-based company Fly Full Circle – was taken to hospital by ambulance but died just a few hours later.
A murder investigation was launched by Warwickshire Police and on Tuesday Vijay Masih, of Willenhall, Birmingham, was charged with manslaughter.
The 30-year-old is due to appear at Leamington Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday).
Paying tribute in a heartfelt message on Facebook, Robert’s parents Ian and Amanda wrote: “He was a much-loved and cherished son, brother, grandson and uncle who will be greatly missed.
“Robert lived life to the full with the support of his amazing friends and achieved so much in his short life.”
Calling it an ‘indescribably painful’ time, his parents admitted they had been ‘overwhelmed’ by the wonderful messages from friends and family and thanked them for for their continued love and support.
Messages of condolence and floral tributes have also been left at the scene in the wake of Robert’s death.
One read: “It’s hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.”
Others spoke of the hole that would be left in many lives by his death, and of an “amazing person” who was “true and bright” and who had accomplished so much.
A second 30 year-old man from Birmingham was initially arrested on suspicion of murder but was released without charge.
Detectives still want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident and has not yet come forward.
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
